The World Orchid Association ( WOA ) was jointly initiated by prominent industry leaders in the orchid community, including Mr. Lawrence Sun, Executive Director of the Orchid Branch of the China Flower Association; Mr. Neo Tuan Hong, Chairman of the Singapore Orchid Growers Association; Ms. Kathy Ong AIFD, Education Director of the Lee Flower Design Academy Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia, and many other orchid enthusiasts from around the globe.
This non-profit organization was registered in Hong Kong on October 16, 2015, with the inaugural launch meeting and first general assembly, taking place on December 8, 2015, at the Orchid World in Sanya, China.
The WOA aims to unite researchers, growers, and distributors in the global orchid industry, promoting its vigorous development. Our goals include enhancing international markets, improving production and marketing techniques, assisting governments in formulating policies for the flower industry, and organizing and participating in orchid exhibitions/floral shows worldwide.
To be the leading platform connecting expertise of key global industry and academic resources, dedicated to the development of the orchid industry worldwide.
• Improve the development of orchid cultivation, prod
uction and distribution.
• Identify and develop vital production and techniques marketing strategies, towards the development of the domestic and international markets.
• Provide industry expertise and support to governments in enhancing basic policies of developing the orchid flower industry.
• Initiate and organise Orchid Floral Shows as a platform to showcase its core objectives.
The following core initiatives demonstrate a comprehensive approach to enhancing the global orchid community and professional network, but and also positions the WOA as a pivotal player in the growth, education and sustainability of the global orchid industry.
Production and Marketing Support :
Sharing of best practices to enhance the capabilities of growers and distributors, making them more competitive and ensuring the sustainability of the industry.
Global Events : Participate in, and organize international orchid exhibitions and orchid floral design shows, which will unquestionably showcase and educate on these amazing and beautiful orchids.
Training and Development :
Initiate collaboration of training programs to enhance the professional skills and standards of orchid practitioners, promoting the development and education of the orchid industry.
Business Opportunities :
Assist in facilitating business discussions through collaborations on joint ventures or strategic partnerships, for mutual benefits.
Market Exploration :
Organizing exploratory trips to different orchid farms/markets to gain invaluable insights and understanding into consumer/market.
Policy Development :
Support and collaborate with government bodies to develop policies
that can lead to better support systems for the industry.
Industry Insights & Support :
Support, review and provide industry insights on orchid industry publications, in collaboration with industry or expert authorities/institutions.
WOA Membership Benefits
• Membership fee per calendar year RM 80.00
• Membership is open to all those interested in orchids ( minimum joining age is 18 years )

• Participate in orchid floral design art/craft workshop/demos by distinguished and esteemed guests or member speakers
• Opportunities to volunteer for events or projects organised by, or in collaboration with WOA in local and international orchid shows and garden festivals, as well as other activities such as orchid farm visits, production etc.
• Non-member family/friends are only allowed to join in selected ‘non-paying’ activities/programmes as denoted accordingly
• For selective activities/events/programmes “open” to non-members, they are required to pay for an entry ticket as specified accordingly, to participate in the activity/events/programmes.
